In My Mailbox (1) - Yasmina

First off I want to say I have noticed huge amount of book blogs posting In My Mailbox posts which I believe was started off by The Story Siren. In My Mailbox is where you post pictures and maybe a small synopsis of the books you have received, bought or borrowed lately.

Okay so I’m just going to go ahead and post pictures of all the books I have bought in the last 2 months which have only recently been taken out of their amazon boxes or Waterstones/Foyles bags lol.

Harry Potter Page to Screen by Bob McCabe & Harry Potter Film Wizardry. I know everybody already knows about Harry Potter Page to Screen but Film Wizardry is awesome too. It had the Hogwarts Letter and Marauder’s Map inside as extras!!

The Tales of Beedle the Bard by J K Rowling. I know I should have bought this a long time ago but I would always forget :S

The Complete Fairy Tales by Hans Christian Andersen & Grimm’s Complete Fairy Tales. These are extremely hard to come by in the UK so after a lot of searching I managed to find them for around £15 each.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern & Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green (signed) & The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Ben Selznick. I’m going to read The Invention of Hugo Cabret after I watch the movie because I’ve heard wonderful things.

White Cat & Red Glove by Holly Black

The Playbook by Barney Stinson & Palo Alto by James Franco. I still need to buy The Bro Code.

Maze Runner & The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

Heroes of Olympus - The Lost Hero by Rick Riordan & Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes & Before I Go To Sleep by S J Watson & A Tiny Bit Marvellous by Dawn French

The Special Foyles Editions of 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell & The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett & Emma by Jane Austen. I had to get these books when I saw them on Tumblr, they’re beautiful.

Before I fall and Liesl & Po by Lauren Oliver

Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick & Power of Six by Pittacus Lore

Hopefully this will become a regular monthly post on the last Sunday of the month and I’ll most likely have only one book to post about.

Kitteh, you have good taste. Here, have some kibble. :3

If only I could convince my cat to even look at a book… -_-

Calling All Haruki Murakami Fans…

1Q84 cover

Introducing the “Ten Things Haruki Murakami Made Me Think Of” Contest, which is open to you and your customers, and yours to share via e-newsletters, Twitter, and your extremely interesting websites.

Because we know you’re dying to write this newsletter copy: “Win a free first edition of Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84, signed by the author!”

How it works: send us a “Top Ten List” inspired by Murakami’s writing, and we’ll post it here on Bluestone.

Sample ideas to get your creative juices flowing:

 *          10 jazz pieces you could actually listen to while running

*           10 writers that Murakami has not translated (but we wish he would)

*           10 film actors who would be great at playing Murakami characters

*           10 best cat names inspired by Murakami novels

Ten winners will be selected based on creativity, and the level to which we’re jealous we didn’t think of the idea ourselves. Each winner will receive a a signed first edition of 1Q84, published by Knopf.

(We don’t have to tell you the lengths a Murakami fan will go to for a signed book. When the galleys arrived, we were so nervous about them disappearing, we hid them where we thought no one would look: behind a 1961 etiquette guide.)

Please note: we promise not to collect any of your customers’ e-mail addresses for our own random-ish promotional purposes.

You can send your submissions to us at bluestone@randomhouse.com.  The deadline is November 22nd and the fine print is here.

Suffice to say I will be researching Haruki Murakami and reading 1Q84 so that I can enter! I love a good competition :)
